Terms of Use

ZapSplit is designed for splitting shared, legitimate personal expenses between people who know and trust each other — dinner bills, travel costs, rent, event tickets, and similar. Examples of acceptable use:

• Splitting a restaurant bill among friends
• Sharing a vacation rental cost with family
• Dividing monthly household expenses with roommates
• Splitting a group gift purchase
• Shared subscription or service costs between colleagues

The following uses are explicitly prohibited and will result in account termination:

2.1 Financial Crime

• Using ZapSplit to layer, structure, or conceal proceeds of illegal activity
• Creating fake expenses to move funds between wallets
• Using ZapSplit to circumvent currency controls or sanctions
• Knowingly receiving or sending funds connected to criminal activity

2.2 Fraud and Deception

• Creating false claim links to deceive other users
• Impersonating another person to gain access to their claim
• Sharing claim links publicly to defraud strangers
• Submitting inflated or fabricated expenses

2.3 Technical Abuse

• Attempting to exploit smart contract vulnerabilities
• Reverse engineering or tampering with the ZapSplit frontend or API
• Automated scraping or bot activity without our consent
• Generating excessive API requests that degrade service for others
• Attempting to intercept or decrypt another user's confidential transfer

2.4 Illegal Content

• Using expense descriptions or group names to transmit illegal, threatening, or harassing content
• Using the platform in any way that violates applicable local, national, or international law

When you create an expense and generate claim links, you are solely responsible for:

• Sharing links only with intended recipients. Claim links are permissionless — anyone who has the link can claim the funds.
• Verifying recipient identity. ZapSplit does not verify that the person claiming a link is who you intended.
• Revoking unused links. If a link is shared by mistake, reclaim the funds from your Vault immediately.

ZapSplit is not liable for funds claimed by unintended recipients if you shared a link insecurely.

ZapSplit's zero-knowledge privacy features (Tongo confidential transfers) are provided to protect legitimate financial privacy — not to facilitate illegal activity. Using privacy features to conceal proceeds of crime, evade law enforcement, or circumvent financial regulations is prohibited and may be reported to relevant authorities to the extent we are able.

Privacy does not mean anonymity. Your Privy account is tied to your email address, and your Starknet wallet address is visible on-chain for any transaction you make.

Yield earned on unclaimed funds via Starknet staking is subject to the following conditions:

• Yield rates are variable and are not guaranteed by ZapSplit
• Staking is performed through Starknet's native delegation protocol — ZapSplit does not operate its own validators
• Unstaking may have a cooldown period depending on the pool; ZapSplit will display this clearly
• Yield is displayed in STRK. Fiat-equivalent value may fluctuate
• ZapSplit is not responsible for yield lost due to validator downtime or slashing

ZapSplit is currently in mainnet beta. During this phase:

• All transactions occur on Starknet mainnet and involve real STRK/USDC
• The service may be interrupted or significantly changed without notice
• Data stored in your browser may be cleared during major updates
• Confidential transfers (Tongo ZK privacy) are pending mainnet deployment by Fat Solutions and are not yet active
• We are not liable for any loss of funds during the beta period — use only amounts you can afford to lose

We operate a responsible disclosure policy. Security researchers who report vulnerabilities in good faith will not face legal action and may be eligible for recognition or rewards.

We may update these Terms of Use at any time. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced via our social channels. Continued use of ZapSplit after changes are posted constitutes your agreement to the updated terms.
